Ultra-short Throw Projectors from Sanyo are 3D-ready
Sanyo recently released two new ultra-short throw DLP projectors, both of which are 3D-ready and smaller than existing short throw projectors. The PDG-DWL2500 retails for around $1995 (MSRP) and is available now. The PDG-DXL2000 retails for $1795 (MSRP) and has not shipped yet.

The PDG-DWL2500 has a WXGA native resolution (1280 × 800, 16:10) and a reported maximum brightness of 2500 lumens. Weighing in at 13.7 pounds, it's definitely meant for installation rather than portability, but is able to project an 80-inch image from just 12.6 inches distance.
The Sanyo PDG-DXL2000 has a lower, XGA resolution (1024 × 768, 4:3) and is dimmer, at a reported 2000 lumens. It also requires a little more room – 15.1 inches – in order to produce an 80-inch projection.
Both projectors are capable of working with Active Shutter 3D display, though a 3D system does not come bundled with purchase. Sanyo has aimed the projectors at the educational market, where 3D manufacturers have been making a play, prophesying a more active and engaged classroom.
